Copado, a Salesforce DevOps platform, needed help simplifying their value prop for users overwhelmed by technical jargon. We designed an intuitive, insight-driven assessment tool that guides users through complex logic and delivers personalized, strategic recommendations. The project ran for about 6–9 months, and its success led Copado to return for a Phase 2: a custom PDF generator that creates dynamic, shareable reports based on individual results.

The challenge

The DevOps process is one that was known for being complex, hard to understand, and therefor hard to truly measure in success. In addition to these hurdles, many companies overestimated the maturity of their DevOps processes, unaware of critical gaps in their workflows. Existing sales materials weren’t enough to highlight those gaps or guide users toward improvement. Our client, Copado, needed a way to both educate prospects and qualify them more effectively, something more diagnostic, interactive, and insightful as opposed to the dense and complex information available. 

The solution

To address the gap in awareness and drive more qualified engagement, we designed an interactive DevOps Maturity Assessment. Rather than relying on static PDFs or vague marketing copy, this tool would guide users through a series of targeted questions; each mapped to a key pillar of DevOps maturity, including release velocity, testing coverage, automation, and team collaboration.

We collaborated across product, content, and engineering teams to shape the question logic and scoring model. The assessment provided real-time feedback based on user responses, giving them a clear, personalized view of where they stood—and what to improve.

To support Copado’s demand generation goals, we introduced a gated results model. Users could see their maturity category (e.g. beginner, developing, advanced), but needed to enter their contact information to access detailed results and next steps. This gave the experience both value and urgency, while feeding qualified leads into Pardot.
